What are AI Overviews.
In short
AI-generated answers that Google shows above the regular search results, with links to the pages they draw on. Available in Poland since March 2025.
What they look like
For some queries Google shows a block above the results with an answer written by AI. It summarises information from several pages and links to them. In Poland AI Overviews have been available since March 2025, and AI Mode, a conversational search experience, followed in October 2025.
What it means for websites
For informational questions some users get their answer without clicking, so advice pages can lose clicks even when rankings hold. On the other hand, being a source in AI Overviews brings visibility and a link in the most prominent spot on the page.
How to improve your chances
- Google says plainly there are no special requirements: the same rules as regular SEO apply.
- The page must be indexed and eligible to show a snippet.
- Content that answers the question specifically, with examples and first-hand experience, helps.
- A structure with clear headings makes it easier to pick the right passage.
How to check
Traffic from AI Overviews is included in regular Search Console data, with no separate report. To know whether a page is cited, you have to check important queries manually or use tools that track it.
